The challenge

Coordinate over a thousand volunteers running the festival for three days — in terms of communication and, above all, safety.

The solution

The app became both a communication channel and a safety tool for over a thousand volunteers — with one feature that stands out in particular.

SOS feature — help at one button

In an emergency the volunteer taps one button in the app. The app instantly sends an SMS to predefined numbers with a call for help — the message includes the volunteer's name and a Google Maps link with their current coordinates.

What's more, from the moment SOS is triggered the volunteer's location is shared in real time with the Peace Patrol Centre — on a large map they see where the person is and how they move, so they can dispatch support instantly.

A map that works when the network fails

At a festival with a crowd of attendees, reception is poor and the mobile network is regularly congested. That's why the Pol'and'Rock site map in the app works offline — the layout with key points is available even without the internet. That's the difference between a map that really helps and one that just won't load at the critical moment.

Other features in action

• Bulletin board — volunteers arranged shared rides to and from the festival, and used it as a lost-and-found office („I lost…”, „I found…, please contact me at…”).
• AI chatbot — administrators uploaded documents that volunteers would normally have to read. The chatbot automatically drew knowledge from them and answered on the spot: where the toilets and shops are, how much a tent spot costs, or rules questions.
• Sports challenge — in a simplified version we counted each volunteer's steps and shared a ranking, promoting those who moved around the festival the most.
• Static content — the full set of key information for volunteers, always in one place.
